PART I. HISTORICAL PROFILE

A. HISTORY 

BRIEF HISTORY OF BARANGAY SAN JOSE

     It  was  formally called "NAMBAYOAN" which means "a place
of pounding". The mortar and pestle were then used in pounding
rice before the introduction of  "KISKISAN" . The  people  who
first settled in this place who came from SANTIAGO,ILOCOS SUR,
called this place "CASANTIAGOAN".

     The  Barrio's  first  settlers  were mostly the BONGOLAN,
SIPIN,  GRAVELA,  QUERIDO, JACOB,  ASUNCION, ELLAZAR, SOLIVEN,
MANIPON,  ALMENDAREZ, SAPASAP, CASTILLIO, SUMERA, ELLORIN and
MONDALA families.

     As this is an  agricultural  locality, most of the people
are farmers. Rice, corn, tomatoes and other vegetables are the
main crops of the place. They also smugged and sprayed mangoes
other involved themselves in piggery and poultry raising while
some women engaged in dressmaking. Aside from farmers some are
teachers, physicians, engineers, sailors  and  carpenters. The
Sinucalan River and Canarem Creek are rich in fish and snails.

VISION 

     An  Economically  progressive  Barangay  in  the  City of
Urdaneta.  A  peaceful, clean,  environment, friendly,  people
oriented  and  self-sustaining  Barangay  to  provide a better
quality  of  life  for  it's  God  fearing,  peace  loving and 
empowered citizenry. 

MISSION

     To lead in achieving the vision of a progressive,peaceful, 
clean environment-friendly,people oriented and self-sustaining
Barangay San Jose the highest standard of public service under 
the spirit of  the transparency and good governance to improve 
the quality of  life and make Barangay San Jose a better place
to live in.
