A. HISTORICAL PROFILE

HISTORY

Tagamusing was the original name of Brgy. Tulong who was given by
Don Manuel Sison and the mother barangay was Anonas. The first
inhabitants of the barrio was the Gandia's and Pagaduan's from
Ilocos, The Ramos'es and Figuracion's from La Union, and the
Barbado's, Sante's, Manantan's, Rincuraya's, Tomines'es, Magno's,
Abao's and Mercado's. Other clans followed such as the: Gotgotao's,
Eufemia's, Sison's and Nazarro's. Most of the inhabitants. Most of
the inhabitants are farmers, some are carpenters. The barrio was
abundant in sugarcane, coconut, tobacco and vegetables, because of
the hard labor in processing sugarcane to sugar. The inhabitants
helped each other in putting the stabbed bundles of sugarcane into
a two-wheeled cart pulled by a carabao while some folks are in the
field planting tobacco and harvesting their crops. This was the
start in naming the barrio as Tulong. Soon, the first Tenyente del
Barrio was mandated to be Crispolo Figuracion in the year 1953,
follwed by Jesus Gandia Sr. There and then, the Sitio Tulong
separated from Barangay Anonas. For the period 1963-1965, there
were three councilmen in Anonas at that time from Sitio Tulong.
There are Marcelino Gotgotao, Faustino Gandia and Alfredo Guevarra.
They were helped by Barangay Captain Serafica of Barangay Anonas
and Councilor Loreto Banag, and under the leadership of the
newly-elected Mayor Amadeo R. Perez Jr, Sitio Tulong was
proclaimed in the year 1970 as an independent barangay.

Now, the folks of Barangay Tulong raises chickens, cows,
pigs, and carabaos for extra income. Some are Professional,
Skilled Workers and OFW's.

Barangay Tulong is one of the beneficiaries of Philippine
Carabao Center. The folks are engaged in raising Bulgarian carabao
for milk production. The first in Eastern Pangasinan that grows
widely. The cooperative was under rehabilitation and was
supervised by the TESDA.
